Does good ECEC prevent Early School Leaving (ESL)?

Childcare of high quality is important, for now, but also for later. Does the quality of ECEC affect school performance in secondary education? This is one of the research questions in this study commissioned by the European Commission.

VBJK is an important partner in this European research: we are both key expert and national expert. As a national expert, we conduct a literature review and a case study.

Transition is crucial

What are the general findings? From birth to the diploma of secondary education, children go through various institutions: from childcare through kindergarten and primary school to secondary education. Transition moments play a crucial role in this. A warm transition with care for the well-being of every child is essential.
